Professor Carlos Antônio Cabral dos Santos was born in Guarabira, PB, Brazil, on January 1st, 1953. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. both on Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) in 1976 and 1977, respectively, and his D.Sc. on Aeronautic and Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) in 1990. He developed pos-doctoral studies in the Mechanical Engineering Department at University of Miami in the period of 1993 to 1995, and in this opportunity he was elected member of the National Honor Society of Phi Beta Delta, USA. Prof. Santos joined the Mechanical Engineering Dept at UFPB in 1977, where he was Head of the Solar Energy Laboratory. He is the author of around 60 technical papers, and supervisor of around 12 Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. His research interests include the modeling and simulation of convection heat transfer in channels and refrigeration systems.

Professor João Nazareno Nonato Quaresma was born in Igarapé-Miri, PA, Brazil, on August 1st, 1965. He received his B.Sc. on Chemical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Pará in 1988, his M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering in 1991 and D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1997, both from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He joined the Chemical Engineering Dept. at Universidade Federal do Pará (DEQ/UFPA) in 1991, where currently he is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Laboratory of Processes Simulation, where he also served for two years as Graduate coordinator for the M.Sc. program in Chemical Engineering. Prof. Quaresma is the author of around 40 technical papers, and supervisor of 6 Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. He is a Coordinator of research projects with CNPq and FUNTEC, federal and state sponsoring agencies in Brazil. His research interests include the modeling and simulation of non-Newtonian fluid flow. He is member of the research consortium CAPES-COFECUB among COPPE/UFRJ, UFPA, and Université de Paris VI, France, that is directed towards the covalidation of computational methods in transport phenomena.

Professor João Alves de Lima was born in Areia, PB, Brazil, on December 19th, 1969. He received his B.Sc. on Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) in 1992, his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1995 and his D.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB) in 2000. His main research area concerns the development of hybrid analytical-numerical approaches in the analysis of the developing turbulent flow in ducts. He joined the Mechanical Engineering Dept. at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (DEM/UFRN) in 2002. Currently, he is working in cooperation with researchers of the Solar Energy Laboratory (LES) at UFPB on application of the Generalized Integral Transform Technique (GITT) in magnetohydrodynamic problems, as well as in conduction-convection-radiation coupling problems.
